Backyard Brawl Pilot!
Storyboard Thumbnails

These are my loose thumbnails! They helped me understand how I wanted to compose certain scenes, or explore different expressions and gags! They then go through a rough sketch phase, adding background, keeping the characters in frame, and clarifying the silhouette. Each Thumbnail panel will have about 2-10 different frames to add movement and clarity to the finish storyboard animatic.

Main Characters

Isaac
Isaac is a loner and rarely wants to socialize. Always doom scrolling on his phone. He used to be a pretty energetic kid but didn’t know how to approach the other kids, making him socially awkward and easily bullied. Hes autistic and some flaws of his are specific to the disorder. He learns he's ok to be himself and accept his flaws.

Billy
Billy is super extroverted and energetic but he can be really weird and say some really stupid things. He has trouble making friends but that won’t stop him from being his goofy self. Thinks he's the new kids best friend and tries to do everything with him.

Artist Statement
I feel confident in my ability to work efficiently and organized, making my time management skills very strong. I am realistic with the expectations I set for myself, meaning each week I felt fulfilled with the work I was able to chip away at. I want to do something that hasn’t been done in the illustration track, mixing visual development and storyboarding to create a tv pilot episode. I want to create the blueprints for a 12 minute animatic to help me further understand everything about the animation pipeline. Learning how to make a script, editing, voice acting, art directing, and of course storyboarding. I want to show potential jobs that I understand everything that goes into making a movie or TV series.
This project will be done digitally, using photoshop, premiere pro, Scriptwriter, and adobe animate. I am inspired by the people who made “Craig of the Creek”, mixed with “The Bad Guys”, mainly for their fun, lighthearted, stories and characters. I am mainly inspired by the era our generation grew up with, not having to rely on our phones to have fun. I want children to be able to use their imagination to create and have fun outside, while teaching them about nature and different social issues that don’t get talked about as much as they should. Craig of the Creek is an amazing example of what I’d love to achieve, just a bunch of kids with different interests and passions coming together to play and create.
